How It Works

First. Place Your Order

You can calculate the price of your book order using our online pricing tool. Once you are ready to place an order, fill out our order form. When you submit your order, you will receive an automatic reply with instructions for uploading your print-ready PDF files.

After you have submitted your order, you will be prompted to upload your print-ready files. We will send you an invoice via email once we have performed an initial review of your files to ensure they match the specifications entered via the order form.

When you receive your invoice, we will require a deposit equal to 50% of the total in order to begin the proofing process. The balance will be due when the books are ready to ship

Then. Proofing

The proofing stage is your opportunity to review and approve image quality, check for typos, and make any necessary changes before final printing. All orders include PDF “soft proofs” at no additional charge. Soft proofs are often sufficient for books that are all or mostly text, or for books where absolute color accuracy is not crucial. We can also produce a printed “hard proof”, which will add some cost to your order. We strongly recommend hard proofs for all books where color rendition, image quality, and graphic detail are important. We print a full proof of your book’s contents as well as any other printed elements, such as covers or dust jackets. Your proof will be trimmed to size, but not bound. Many customers need to make edits to their files after receiving their initial proofs. If you need to see an additional proof after making edits, you will have the option to pay for another hard proof, or receive a soft proof without incurring additional cost. Once you approve final printing based off your acceptance of the proof, we will move to production and start making your books.

And finally. Production

Orders are moved into production after you approve final printing, and when we have print-ready, final files submitted by you. Softcover book orders usually ship within 2-3 weeks after final proof approval, whereas hardcover books will generally take 3-4 weeks. Very large orders or orders with custom material requirements can take up to 5 weeks or more. Rush services are available on a case-by-case basis. Unless selected otherwise, your books will be securely packed and shipped UPS Ground. Local pick up is also available. Please see our FAQs page for more information on shipping.
